I absolutely LOVE a tipi wedding! If you’ve looked through my website that probably doesn’t surprise you as I have so many images of beautiful boho tipi set ups across my site… not to mention that even my branding is tipi inspired!

I’ve photographed A LOT of tipi weddings now so I consider myself as something of an expert. It may surprise you but tipi’s are actually notoriously hard to photograph & many photographers don’t enjoy the challenges that they come with.

I definitely agree that they can be tricky however I’ve got my tried & tested methods in place now which makes things nice & simple for me & guarantees you get a beautiful set of photographs that show off your tipi wedding perfectly!

Below are a few of my very favourite tipi weddings so have a scroll through if you’re looking for inspiration for your own day!

Rachel & Kristian

A tipi wedding at The Outbuildings in Anglesey

The Outbuildings is a quirky little wedding venue in Anglesey, North Wales. Surrounded by Welsh fields filled with fluffy white sheep & even has it’s very own pink farm house, making the perfect backdrop for some colourful wedding photography.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel & Kristian for their pre-wedding beach shoot earlier in the year. They are both such lovely people & were so happy telling me all about their plans for the big day, I came away so excited for the day to come around!

After the pair tied the knot in front of a beautiful floral arch, it was outside to enjoy pour-your-own pints and ice-cream cones! Next up was an appearance from The Diamond Boys. Now I don’t often do supplier shout out’s unless I see something absolutely incredible… & The Diamond Boys were just that! By far one of the best bands I’ve ever met & you can see for yourself how much the guests loved them! By the end of their set they had every single guest joining in, circled around them singing their hearts out.

It was such an wonderful day & the cherry on the top was the most epic golden hour just as I was saying my goodbyes. We’d waited and waited all evening for the sun & clouds to aline to give us some beautiful light & they did, just in the nick of time!

Keyvan & Sam

A tipi wedding in The Lake District

Keyvan & Sam got ready together in The Boathouse in Pooley Bridge - a beautiful little building with its own jetty & balcony overlooking the lake. It couldn’t have been a more stunning location & the perfect way to start off their wedding day. After the pair were suited and booted we headed out on the jetty for some pre-ceremony portraits and to make the most of the idyllic Lake District setting.

We then set off into the village where the tipis had been set up, tucked away in a little field right next to the river. Keyvan & Sam said their I do’s under a tipi surrounded by their friends and family. They chose to do the speeches through the ceremony which worked perfectly and meant more time later on for eating, drinking & dancing!

The pair planned their wedding day by prioritising what was important to them and ditching the traditions that weren’t. They had a DIY help-yourself bar & the best dim sum street food for their wedding breakfast (seriously, the best.) They didn’t want to do a first dance but the DJ kicked off at 5pm and the dancefloor was jam packed all evening! It was the perfect day & it was exactly what they wanted.

Kate & Tim

A tipi wedding at Stonyford Cottage Gardens, Cheshire

Kate & Tim's wedding had ALL my favourite things. A beautiful bride in a beautiful beaded boho frock, a 'help yourself scone station' which should be made compulsory at all weddings, an emotional father of the bride (sorry Fred!) & an outdoor ceremony with an abundance of happy tears & belly laughs.

& that's not even mentioning the Land Rover wedding car, boho tipi reception & abundance of confetti... I could go on (& on!)

Rachel & Mark

A tipi wedding at Bach Wen in Caernarfon, North Wales

This was one of those weddings that I was praying was going to be even a fraction as amazing as Rachel & Mark had described it to be & fortunately it most definitely wasn't. It was a thousand times better!

After waking up to perfect blue skies & sunshine, I was bored of waiting in my hotel room, so set off early to Bach Wen Farm to explore the site. Everything about this North Wales wedding venue is picture perfect... on one side you've got glorious Welsh hills & on the other, the beautiful Caernarfon Bay coast line. Sandwiched in the middle was the coolest Tipi set up ever, completed with seaside style stripy deck chairs, giant festival flags & a bright orange VW Camper.

After the pair had officially tied the knot at St Beuno's Church it was back over to Bach Wen Farm, where Rachel & Mark led the way down to the beach with their family & friends following in procession. Much to the delight of their guests, as they arrived at the coastline a surprise brass band started playing Beyonce at full blast whilst they sipped champagne in front of the sea.

When speaking to Rachel about the day's timeline, she asked me to stay a little later than usual in case of a sunset over Caernarfon Bay. The photographer in me couldn't resist and I'm so so glad she did as there was THE MOST EPIC sunset ever. It was the most perfect end to the most perfect day!

Crissie & Dave

A tipi wedding in Yorkshire

When I was told about about Chrissie's parents' plans to convert their house into a wedding venue for Chrissie and Dave to get married in the garden, I couldn't wait for the day to come and see all their hard work pay off.

I arrived at Innisfree to high spirits, perfect blue skies & dogs everywhere (heaven!) As the guests started arriving it was time to leave Chrissie with the registrars and head outside to see Dave. Chrissie looked incredible as she walked through her parents garden and down the the aisle, arm in arm with her Dad. After the ceremony came to an end it was time for everyone to kick off their shoes & enjoy the sunshine with a glass of Pimms!

It was so so sunny that we decided to wait till after the wedding breakfast to shoot the newly wed's portraits, leaving them with bags of time to relax with their guests and make the most of the beautiful weather. There was such a relaxed & homely atmosphere to the day, it was an absolute dream to photograph!

I'd had my fingers crossed all day that the sun would stay out late enough to give us a gorgeous golden light & it didn't disappoint. After Chrissie & Dave shared their first dance as Man & Wife, we headed out to the garden once more, leaving their guests partying away. It only took a few minutes to make the most of the dreamy light so the couple were back on the dance floor before anyone noticed they were gone!
